Before being a building, a museum is above all a collection! Closed since 2019 for renovation, the glass museum has decided to hit the road while waiting to one day find the walls of the Domaine de la verrerie in Blaye-les-Mines. It is therefore a nomadic glass museum which now arises where there is a common desire to disseminate art as close as possible to the inhabitants.
From forest glassworks to the Verrerie Ouvrière d’Albi, the exhibition traces how the Tarn department has been the scene of a continuous production of glass objects for 6 centuries, a tradition extended for 35 years by the Glass Museum and its glassblower workshop. From gentlemen glassmakers to artists of today, including the Solages dynasty and the struggling glassworkers supported by Jean Jaurès, relive the great moments in the history of glass in the Tarn. The opportunity to rediscover old objects and contemporary works from the collections of the Glass Museum.
From January 29 to April 8, 2022, at Valdériès Library. Free admission.
